haha just kidding!!!!!! it seems like someone here has a sense of humor beccause it's at that moment another gust of wind strikes up, whirling around them both and promptly depositing them into....

...a courtroom! though it looks more like an opera house than anything, rows of plush red seats lined from the edge of the stage all the way to the back of the expansive chamber. and each one of them is filled that day, various men and women all seated and murmuring to both themselves and their seatmates. standing out from the crowd are three people - a somber man in jester judge's robes seated in the centermost chair above the odd scale-like structure, a bored looking woman in one of the private side boxes, and of course the boy in the middle of the stage, hands cuffed before him and bandages still covering his cheek and neck and arms.

the odd tufts of hair probably look familiar but if those aren't enough of a giveaway then surely the words of the judge are, his voice ringing out through the courtroom and silencing the crowd almost immediately as he calls the court to session for the trial of wriothesley, accused of the murder of his foster parents. for someone so young, accused of something so heinous, one would expect more fear or anger or resentment. but there's only clarity in his eyes as he recounts his actions the night of the killings, sparing no detail as to precisely what he'd done. the lawyers go back and forth as does the audience, their murmurs only growing louder and more shocked.

but in the end, it's the judge who once again calls them to order after a long bout of silence and a strange fiddling of the contraption in front of him. another tap of his cane, another echo of his voice through the courtroom.

"According to the judgement of the Oratrice Mecanique D'Analyse Cardinale, Mr. Wriothesley is hereby declared guilty, and sentenced to ██ years in prison."

....end scene. ]
